1 March 2019: INGV supported the 2019 edition of the "M'illumino di meno" initiative, conceived in 2005 by the Radiodue program "Caterpillar", which promotes the switching off of the lights from 20.00 to 22.00 on March XNUMX of each year in favor of energy saving and sustainable lifestyles. 4 – 12 March 2019: A series of seminars and appointments was held in L'Aquila in which over 90 scientists and professionals from 19 countries and operating in the disciplines of geophysics, seismic and geotechnical engineering took part, organized as part of the European project Seismology and Earthquake Engineering Research Infrastructure Alliance for Europe (SERA) in collaboration with INGV, the Institute des Sciences de la Terre (ISTerre, France), the Institute of Earth and Environmental Science (Potsdam, Germany) and the Abruzzo Region. 4 – 27 March 2019: The traveling exhibition "Seismic landscapes - The Belice 50 years after the earthquake" has landed in Palermo, in the Mediterranean Space of Legambiente Sicily at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, which retraces, through images, the devastating impact of the 1968 earthquake on the Valle del Belize. 4 March – 14 July 2019: The review "Etna 1669. Stories of lava" began 350 years after the largest eruption of the Sicilian volcano in the last four centuries. The program of the initiative, which will run until July 14, is also managed by the INGV Etna Observatory under the aegis of the Presidency of the Sicily Region and includes many cultural and scientific events that will involve all the Municipalities involved in the historic event. 7 – 20 March 2019: "At school for safety" was held, the event promoted by the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Rende in collaboration with the local INGV office to spread the culture of seismic prevention in the schools of the Municipality through educational courses that make pupils and teachers aware seismic phenomena, their causes, consequences and measures to adopt for risk mitigation. 18 March 2019: The second of the free training events dedicated to teachers of STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) of first and second grade secondary schools was held in Perugia and carried out as part of the event "A Scuola di Scienza", to which the INGV is collaborating again this year with De Agostini Scuola. 22 March 2019: The Accademia dei Lincei hosted the Conference "Earth's Gravity Field and Earth Sciences" at Palazzo Corsini in Rome". Among the speakers who took part in the conference, Federica Riguzzi (INGV - National Earthquake Observatory) and Giovanna Berrino (INGV - Vesuvius Observatory). To learn more click here

28 – 29 March 2019: The 2019 edition of ScienzAperta has started in Milan and Palermo, an initiative of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) born in 2011 with the aim of opening places of scientific research to the public, offering a rich program of events , conferences, museum tours, educational workshops and other events in the various locations of the Institute.
