Geology of Sicily

On Friday 21 October 2016 at 9.30 in the Aula Magna of the Rectorate - University of Catania, the new Geological Map of Sicily will be presented, at a scale of 1:250.000, published 128 years after the first and only official edition on a regional scale existing, published by Baldacci (1886) and included in the first volume of the Descriptive Memoirs of the Geological Map of Italy. The new geological map of Sicily, published by the University of Catania (UniCT) in collaboration with the Catania Section of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (CT-INGV), represents the crowning achievement of decades of research and of "ground". This map is enclosed and described in Volume XCV of the Descriptive Memoirs of the Geological Map of Italy "Geology of Sicily", published by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA)-Geological Service of Italy.
