On Friday 10 June 2022, the presentation of the new novel by Nadia Terranova "Trema la notte" will be held in Rome at the headquarters of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).

Starting at 17:30, the author and Prof. Carlo Doglioni, President of INGV, will talk about it, taking the opportunity of narrating the work to reaffirm the indispensability of historical memory as a tool to strengthen the culture of natural hazards.
Nadia Terranova, an esteemed writer from Messina, in her latest novel recalls the earthquake of 28 December 1908 which devastated Messina and Reggio Calabria.

In the story, the painful daily lives of a boy and a girl who in the tragedy of 1908, despite losing everything, find in the rubble of destroyed cities the sprouts to be reborn with a new light.
In the words of Prof. Doglioni: “We must overcome the daily and natural conflict between memory and oblivion, as the philosopher Remo Bodei reminded us. Damnatio memoriae is unfortunately very active in each of us for all painful events. The natural risks to which we are exposed are innumerable: earthquakes, landslides, eruptions, tidal waves, floods, just to name a few. The memory of past events is a powerful tool for prevention, all in our hands, which we have a duty to hand over to future generations to give them the opportunity to protect themselves".

The event will see passages from the novel read by the actor and director ¬Domenico Tiburzi, with the moderation of Valentina Cofini.

Participation is free while seats last.
