Saturday 14 SeptemberIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) welcomed a delegation from ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries to its Rome headquarters. The delegation was hosted in Italy by the National Civil Protection Service at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The purpose of the visit was a week-long training program aimed at strengthening technical and scientific knowledge and collaboration between Italy and ASEAN countries for disaster risk reduction.
The delegation was received in the INGV Conference Room, where, after visiting the Seismic Monitoring Room, they attended speeches on the Institute's research and monitoring activities and the videoconference connection with the Operations Rooms of the Etna Observatory ( OE-INGV) and the Vesuvius Observatory (OV-INGV).
The delegation's training week also included visits to the competence centers of the Civil Protection Department (DPC), the CIMA Foundation (International Center for Environmental Monitoring) and Eucentre.
