The number of events in the seismic sequence in Central Italy has exceeded a total of 48.200 since 24 August 2016. Compared to the last update yesterday, 20 January at 11:00, no events of magnitude greater than or equal to 4.0 have been recorded , while there were 5 earthquakes of magnitude between 3 and 4 located by National Seismic Network of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), mainly in the southern area between the provinces of L'Aquila and Rieti.

The sequence continues to be very active in the southern part between the provinces of L'Aquila (Montereale, Pizzoli, Capitignano, Campotosto, Cagnano Amiterno) and Rieti (Amatrice).
