The seismic sequence continues with a total number of aftershocks exceeding 47.000 since 24 August 2016. At 11.00 today, 19 January, there are approximately 960 earthquakes with magnitudes between 3 and 4, 57 with magnitudes between 4 and 5 and 9 those of magnitude greater than or equal to 5, located by National Seismic Network of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
In the map below the evolution of the sequence from 24 August 2016 to today. Earthquakes of the last 72 hours are highlighted in a color other than blue.

The evolution of the sequence from 24 August 2016 to today (19 January at 11.00)
Since yesterday, 18 January, the sequence has been very active between the provinces of L'Aquila (Montereale, Pizzoli, Capitignano, Campotosto, Cagnano Amiterno) and Rieti (Amatrice) and in that area INGV has located a total of about 500 seismic events: about 55 earthquakes with a magnitude between 3 and 4, 7 those with a magnitude between 4 and 5 and 4 those with a magnitude greater than or equal to 5.
