The epicenter was located by the National Seismic Network of the INGV 30 km east of Syracuse and 62 km south east of Catania, at a depth of 23 km. According to the questionnaires of http://www.haisentitoilterremoto.it/, last night's earthquake was felt in a large area of ​​south-eastern Sicily. The last strong earthquake that affected this area is that of 13 December 1990 with a magnitude Mw 5.6, located in the sea a few kilometers from the coast.
