With reference to the earthquake of magnitude ML 3.9, which occurred during the night between 20 and 21 September 2015 at 00:27:58 Italian time (20-09-2015 22:27:58 UTC) at sea, off the coast of Syracuse, I would like to draw your attention to the information note published on the INGVterremoti Blog of theIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV). The epicenter was located by the National Seismic Network of the INGV 30 km east of Syracuse and 62 km south east of Catania, at a depth of 23 km. According to the questionnaires of http://www.haisentitoilterremoto.it/, last night's earthquake was felt in a large area of south-eastern Sicily. The last strong earthquake that affected this area is that of 13 December 1990 with a magnitude Mw 5.6, located in the sea a few kilometers from the coast.
