With reference to the earthquake of magnitude ML 3.9, which occurred on the night between 20 and 21 September 2015 at 00:27:58 Italian time (20-09-2015 at 22:27:58 UTC) at sea, off the coast of Syracuse , I would like to point out the information note published on the INGVterremoti Blog of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). The epicenter was located by the INGV National Seismic Network 30 km east of Syracuse and 62 km south east of Catania, at a depth of 23 km. According to the questionnaires of http://www.haisentitoilterremoto.it/, last night's earthquake was felt in a large area of south-eastern Sicily. The last strong earthquake that affected this area is that of 13 December 1990 with a magnitude Mw 5.6, located in the sea a few kilometers from the coast.
