Numerous events at the Casa del Cinema in Rome and at the Geophysical Museum of Rocca di Papa on Friday 30 September for the European Researchers' Night. The initiative, promoted by the European Community, was born from an idea of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), partner of the Frascati Science Association. But what science is there in cinema? is the event scheduled from 9.30 to 19.00 at the Casa del Cinema (Largo Marcello Mastroianni, 1). A series of meetings and debates between scientists, directors, actors and film critics in which films and documentaries will be screened, some unpublished, where science is partly the protagonist. With a magnifying glass, researchers and film experts will highlight not only oversights, blunders and distractions present in films and documentaries, but also works attentive to scientific content and the dissemination of sometimes complex concepts. From 9.30 to 13.00 Small shards of Cinema&Science, for schools (by reservation only). Meetings that see the presence of INGV researchers Aldo Winkler, Patrizia Tosi and Maria Luisa Carapezza. From 15.00 to 19.00, researchers and cinema experts in comparison (open to the public) to talk about Pier Paolo Pasolini and Etna, climate change, the origins of the pink granite column in the Pantheon and finally the earthquake in L'Aquila, through two reports. Speakers: directors Ugo Gregoretti, Folco Quilici, Sebastiano Jesus, RAI journalist Giovanni Tomarchio, Valerio Burli and Linda Parente; the actors Paolo Briguglia and Francesca Cardinale; the expert in sound technique Federico Savina, the Director of FAO Communication Enrique Yeves, the President of INGV Carlo Doglioni and Prof. Franco Barberi. Moderators: film critic Felice Laudadio, Marlon Pellegrini, Silvia Mattoni and Giuliana D'Addezio. 4 photos by Salvatore Tomarchio taken of Pier Paolo Pasolini on Etna and during the Brancati-Zafferana literary prize will be exhibited. From 16.00 to 20.00 educational workshops for children and teenagers, tours on the Volcano of Lazio and a visit to the Geophysical Museum to learn about the secrets of the earth, understand volcanoes and earthquakes (http://www.frascatiscienza.it/eventlist/). From 16.00 to 18.00 A Volcano as a friend. Treasure hunt to discover the Lazio Volcano, through a route that starts from the Geophysical Museum and crosses part of the Via Sacra. From 16.00 to 22.00 guided tours of the Geophysical Museum of Rocca di Papa. For the little ones, from 16.00 to 18.00 Educational workshops: manual activities with origami-volcanoes and coloring scenarios to familiarize themselves with the various types of volcanoes and with the their main characteristics. Finally, From 18.00 to 20.00 Creating & Knowing the Earth on the terrace of the Geophysical Museum. Workshop activities aimed at children and teenagers to approach the secrets of our planet in an active, simple and fun way.
