On Friday 23 October at 10.30 in Nicolosi (CT), at the headquarters of the Etna Park, there will be the presentation of the Geoportal of the Etna Observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) - section of Catania and of the geodatabase of the Charter Geology of the Etna Volcano, at a scale of 1:50.000. The Geoportal of the Etna-Ingv Observatory is a tool for consulting the data acquired and processed by the Cartography Laboratory of the Volcanological Monitoring Functional Unit, which deals with the mapping of the lava flows and morphologies associated with the volcanic activity of Etna and the definition of the main volcanological parameters of the erupted products. Within the site it is also possible to find the Geodatabase of the Geological Map of Etna Volcano, at a scale of 1:50.000, published in 2011 in the Italian Journal of Geosciences, which was re-edited in Italian in 2015, in the form of an explanatory note, in the Volume XCVIII of the Descriptive Memoirs of the Geological Map of Italy, of the Geological Survey of Italy - ISPRA. The Geodatabase has been implemented with all the geological elements that cannot be represented in the printed map at a scale of 1:50.000 and has been updated with new data regarding the historical eruptive activity.
The event was opened by the President of the Etna Park, Marisa Mazzaglia and the President of INGV, Stefano Gresta.
