With reference to the strong earthquake that occurred at 22.54 UTC on September 16 along the coastal area of Chile (magnitude 8.2), caused by the sliding of about 5 meters of a fault 240 km long and 90 km wide, I would like to draw your attention to the information note published on the INGVterremoti Blog of theIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV). Researchers at the INGV have reconstructed the propagation of tsunami waves across the Pacific Ocean using a simplified fault model.
