With reference to the strong earthquake that occurred at 22.54 UTC on September 16 along the coastal area of Chile (magnitude 8.2), caused by the sliding of about 5 meters of a fault 240 km long and 90 km wide, I would like to point out the information note published on the INGVterremoti Blog of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv). The INGV researchers have reconstructed the propagation of tsunami waves across the Pacific Ocean, using a simplified fault model.
