Friday 16th to Sunday 18th October the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will participate, as Sponsor "Friends", in the event Rome Maker Faire - The European Edition (#MFR15)”. Now in its third edition, this year it will be hosted on the Sapienza university campus in Piazzale Aldo Moro. Together with the New York and San Francisco editions, the Rome event represents one of the largest world fairs of technological innovation inspired by the Makers movement. The projects present at #MFR15 will range from digital craftsmanship, to 3D printing, to the world of FabLabs and to all the expressions of creativity supported by technology. There are also numerous high schools, important universities and research institutions.
At the INGV stand (PAVILION I, STAND 12), it will be possible to meet the researchers who will show some of their projects: from seismic station based on open source hardware and software, to the drone equipped with tools made with FDM printer (Fused Deposition Modeling) for the sampling of volcanic areas to some three-dimensional topographic maps, including a DEM (Digital Elevation Model) of the Colli Albani, created for routes that can be used by blind people. There will also be a connection with the seismic room of the INGV headquarters in Rome, where data from seismometers from all over the world arrive. In fact, in addition to capillary monitoring of the Italian territory, the Institute follows the seismic activity and tsunamis of the entire planet in real time.
The creators of the projects will talk about their experiences during the 4 seminars that will be held on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October.
