The second small group meeting of the European Project SAVEMEDCOASTS (Sea level rise scenarios along the Mediterranean coasts), organized by INGV, in collaboration with the partner ISOTECH (Environmental Research and Consultancy - Cyprus) and CGIAM (Integrated Geomorphology Center for the Mediterranean Area - Italy), and funded by DG-ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations of European Commission), in the field of Civil.
The project, which involves numerous national and international institutions (see www.savemedcoasts.eu), promotes the prevention of natural disasters in Mediterranean coastal areas subject to sea level rise due to climate change.
SAVEMEDCOASTS aims to provide multi-temporal scenarios of marine ingression along the coasts, preparing Mediterranean countries' stakeholders and policy makers to deal with these changes in the most conscious way.
The objective is to proceed, through a communication campaign, with the identification of specific subjects who, due to their function on the coastal territory, have the mandate to program and plan prevention actions. Furthermore, another priority of the project is to involve countries suffering from sea level rise caused by subsidence and climate change.
