From today the Story Maps & Earthquakes is available in the INGVterremoti gallery (http://terremoti.ingv.it/it/storymaps.html) on the seismic sequence in central Italy which began on 24 August. Story maps are simple web applications that combine interactive digital maps with text, photos, videos and other multimedia content capable of disseminating scientific information to even non-expert users, very suitable even in the event of a seismic emergency such as the one we are experiencing. The story maps, continuously updated, allow you to consult some of the information and insights produced and published on the INGVterremoti channels (http://ingvterremoti.wordpress.com) in the early days of the sequence.
Divided into thematic points, it is possible to consult data, graphs and videos on the seismic sequence flanked by navigable and searchable maps.
In particular, there are: the videos on the space-time animation of the first week of the sequence, on the propagation of the waves of the earthquake of last August 24th and the related 3D fault plane; the interactive maps on the seismic hazard of the area and the strong earthquakes of the past and some images on the seismic sequences of the last decades and on the impact of the earthquake. Finally, through an interactive map it is possible to follow the real-time trend of the sequence which shows all the epicenters located in the area by the INGV National Seismic Network.
