From June 30th, for three months, the INGV Info Points on the Aeolian islands of Stromboli and Vulcano will welcome visitors with a multidisciplinary and interactive information and dissemination offering.
The next The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) Info Points on Stromboli and Vulcano will reopen to the public on Tuesday, June 30th. which, like every summer, will welcome visitors, tourists, enthusiasts, and the curious with informative tours of the Aeolian volcanic lands.
For over twenty years, the two Info Points, already known as INGV Information Center in Stromboli e INGV Information Center "Marcello Carapezza" in Vulcano, are the reference points for information and scientific dissemination created by INGV in collaboration with the National Department of Civil Protection (DPC).
During the summer period, when the influx of tourists and residents is greater, researchers and technologists from the INGV, in collaboration with students of Italian universities, welcome visitors to the Centres to illustrate the characteristics of Aeolian volcanism and the risks associated with it, with a multidisciplinary and interactive dissemination approach.
Not only panels and informative videos on the geology of the islands and on the geophysical and geochemical surveillance activities of the Aeolian arch, coordinated by INGV Aeolian Monitoring Center (CME), as well as dynamic monitors offering real-time hands-on experience of the monitoring activities of the active volcanoes of the Aeolian Islands. Furthermore, this year, curious and avid enthusiasts will be able to take flight over Stromboli in the INGV's virtual helicopter.
An integrated system that the Institute makes available for a better understanding of its activities and that offers useful information on prevention actions against volcanic dangers and natural risks.
The Info Points of Stromboli and Vulcano will be can be visited free of charge every day of the week, from 10:00 to 13:00 and, in the afternoon, from 17:00 to 20:00, and will remain open until September 30th.
