The Minister of Education, University and Research (MIUR), Stefania Giannini, has appointed the new President of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). 
This is Prof. Carlo Doglioni, Professor of Geology at the Department of Earth Sciences at the Sapienza University of Rome.
 
Born in Feltre in 1957, he is professor of Geodynamics at the Sapienza University of Rome. Former president of the scientific council of the Deep Crust Strategic Project (CROP) of the National Research Council (CNR) and of the Italian Geological Society, he is the author of the mapping of global tectonic asymmetries and of a new model of terrestrial geodynamics. He is a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and of the National Academy of Sciences called dei XL.
