Renewing and implementing the monitoring network for a positive impact on society, both present and future. This is the focus of the project, coordinated by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and funded by the PNRR (National Plan for Regional Development), which will be the focus of the info day on September 30th.

Tuesday September 30, at the Chamber of Commerce of Bari, a day will be held entirely dedicated to “Monitoring Earth's Evolution and Tectonics” (MEET) project, coordinated by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) and funded by the PNRR.

From the 10 17 meetings, debates and round tables will follow one another In the presence of public and private representatives, the event will present the innovations adopted for an increasingly forward-looking Earth Science. During the info day the results of the project will be presented and we will discuss the potential for positive impact of geoscientific innovation on the development of a society capable of engaging new generations, understanding the Earth's profound dynamics, and increasingly managing natural risks.

Many events are scheduled during the day, such as the presentation of the two new open data portals, “Italian Platform for Solid Earth Science” (IPSES) and “Platform for Earth Observation from Space” (PEOS), and three round tables focusing on data, HPC and connectivity, Earth monitoring from space and the role of research infrastructures for the risk society.

An exhibition area dedicated to the four themes of the Project will also be set up: “The Earth from the Earth", with the new sensors of the large national networks (National Integrated GNSS Network, National Seismic Network, Hydrogeochemical Network), the new instruments on Italian volcanoes and the development of the natural laboratories of Irpinia, Strait of Messina, Gargano and former Sos Enattos mines in Sardinia; “The Land from the Sea" with two major scientific initiatives in complex environments: the installation of the DART system in the Ionian Sea for the study of tsunamis and the Marine Observatory of Campi Flegrei; The Earth from Space" with the Multi-parameter platform for Earth Observations from Space and "Sharing minds for the future" with opportunities for young researchers, including physical and virtual access, both nationally and transnationally, to the Network of Integrated Laboratories for Geosciences and the Environment, and the study opportunities offered by the Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences at the University of Bari.

The event also featured an aurora borealis simulator and a cinema space with documentaries produced by the Project, which use sound, images, and interviews to tell the fascinating stories of daily geoscience research.
