The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), in its capacity as President Fabio Florindo, totally dissociates itself from the statements made by Boris Behncke, a researcher at the Etna Observatory in Catania, reported on his personal Facebook profile and made expressly in a personal capacity, regarding the management of the current Etna eruption in the Valle del Bove, and in particular regarding the criticism of the ordinances issued by the mayors of the Etna municipalities affected by the phenomenon.
The INGV specifies that the ordinances are the result of a complex assessment by all local bodies of the Civil Protection System, coordinated by the Prefecture of Catania, in relation to the state of the volcano provided by the Etna Observatory.
President Florindo emphasizes the importance and essentiality of these activities, emphasizing INGV's position of complete agreement with the other institutions involved.
