Official visit of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to theIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia, at the Rome office on January 24, 2018
On Wednesday 24 January, for the first time in the history of the institution, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will visit theIstituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), at its headquarters in Rome.
INGV is one of the largest European research institutions in the field of Earth sciences and, as a member of the Civil Protection system, carries out seismic, volcanic and tsunami warning monitoring and surveillance activities.
The program includes: an exhibition itinerary illustrating the scientific activities of the Institute; visit to the National Seismic Room and Tsunami Alert Center, with connection to the operations rooms of Naples-Vesuvian Observatory and Catania-Etneo Observatory to check the state of Italian volcanoes; in the conference room, greetings from INGV President Carlo Doglioni, General Manager Maria Siclari and speech by two researchers from the institution (Antonio Costa and Elena Spagnuolo).
