Open from 10 July to 9 October, the INGV Info Points on the islands of Vulcano and Stromboli are ready to welcome Aeolian visitors

From 10 July 2021 in Stromboli and Vulcano the Info Point of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reopen the doors to welcome visitors, tourists and non-tourists, in a cognitive journey of the Aeolian volcanic lands.
A point of reference for over twenty years, the two Info Points, known as the INGV Information Center of Stromboli and the INGV "Marcello Carapezza" Information Center of Vulcano, are scientific information centers created by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in collaboration with the National Department of Civil Protection.
During the summer period, when the influx of tourists and residents is greater, INGV places specialized teams of researchers at the disposal of visitors to the islands to illustrate the fascination of Aeolian volcanism and the risks associated with it.
Integrated routes, volcanic events in recent history and the natural phenomena associated with them will be the fulcrum of the cognitive journey that will lead visitors to discover the two suggestive and beautiful Sicilian volcanoes that emerge from the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The enhanced exhibition itineraries also allow you to view in real time the geophysical and geochemical monitoring and surveillance activity of the active volcanoes of the Aeolian Islands, coordinated by the CME (Aeolian Monitoring Centre) and to be able to make connections with the Operations Room of the Etna Observatory in Catania. An integrated system that INGV makes available for a better understanding of its activities. In fact, the constant monitoring of volcanic activities and the scientific researches that are continuously carried out on their structures, lead researchers to know more and more the mechanisms that regulate these giants of nature, offering increasingly useful information in the dynamics of prevention from natural risks. .
The Stromboli and Vulcano Info Points will be open every day of the week, from 10:00 to 13:00 and, in the afternoon, from 17:00 to 20:00 and will remain open until 9 October.
In compliance with the rules dictated by the COVID-19 health emergency, to access the Aeolian Volcano Info Points of Stromboli and Vulcano, online booking will be required on the website cie.ingv.it. The flows of visitors will be governed by the specific security protocol prepared by INGV to protect operators and the public and can be viewed on the site.
