With immersive experiences, seminars, workshops and two round tables at the International Scientific Conference, INGV offers citizens, institutions, industrialists and the research world a window onto its growing role in the new space economy.

From the 10 12 December, in the exhibition spaces of Rome Fair, The appointment with New Space Economy Expoforum (NSE), the event organized by Fiera Roma in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), which since 2019 has annually brought together institutions, industry, education, the scientific community, and enthusiasts for a three-day event dedicated to the challenges and prospects of the new space economy.

With a renewed and expanded stand and two tables in the Scientific Conference, theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) confirms itself among the protagonists of the event which, now in its seventh edition, consolidates its role in the international scene by entering as a founding member in the Space Golden League, the alliance that brings together the four main European space conferences (Rome, Brussels, Munich and Paris).

The INGV stand in the Exhibition Hall, “Our Planet from Space”, will be coordinated by Center for Earth Space Observations (COS-INGV) and will present a showcase of the Institute's activities in the study of space and the study of space from Earth: among these, environmental monitoring, ionospheric and stratospheric observations, operational space weather services, and scientific missions dedicated to Earth observation through satellite and stratospheric technologies.

By interacting directly with researchers, visitors will discover how data from space can be used to study earthquakes, volcanoes, the atmosphere, and the environment, demonstrating the increasingly close link between space observation and Earth sciences.

At the INGV stand At Fiera Roma visitors will be able to:

→ live a unique experience with the planeteerrella, one of the few simulators in the world capable of reproduce the spectacular polar auroras inside a dark room, to immerse yourself in one of the most fascinating phenomena of our Solar System;

→ discover innovative tools such as HERMES e SUN TRACKER, devices that flew in the stratosphere collecting scientific data from aerospace;

→ participate in interactive experiments with real laboratory instruments which show how satellite data is calibrated and analyzed;

→ deepen the importance of the study of volcanic clouds for air traffic and the environment and observe cutting-edge techniques for monitor sea level from space and seismic and volcanic signals;

→ travel to discover the Solar System aboard a futuristic spaceship thanks to virtual reality.

They will not fail educational games and interactive quizzes about space and its wonders and six short popular lessons These workshops will address current issues related to the use of satellite data and space technologies for the study and protection of the planet, with the aim of promoting space culture and introducing even the youngest participants to the practical applications of research.

An absolute novelty of the 2025 edition of the NSE will be the International Scientific Conference, a new pillar of the event curated directly by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the NSE Scientific Committee, structured around the theme “Shaping the Future - The Future is Not What It Used to Be” with 18 thematic sessions illustrated by over 100 speakers.

INGV will participate in the Conference with two tables cared for by Salvatore Stramondo, Director of the Earthquake Department of the Institute, and Fabrizio Good morning, Director of the Environment Department, confirming INGV's growing presence in the space ecosystem and in the provision of services, both in the environmental and geophysical fields.

The first table, "The Role of Research for Space Economy and Security”will be held on Wednesday 10 December at 15: 20 and will analyze role of research in the competitiveness and safety of the space sector: technological innovation, space logistics, data services, and space traffic management. The second, “Earth Observation: Emerging Trends and Evolutions”, scheduled for Friday 12 December at 11: 10, will instead be dedicated to evolutions of Earth observation, from the integration of artificial intelligence to constellations of small satellites, to the transformation of raw data into operational information and public-private collaboration.

All the promotional materials produced by INGV for NSE 2025 will be available to the public not only at the stand at Fiera Roma, but also on the COS-INGV website and the INGV institutional portal.
