The Night of Science is kicking off with numerous face-to-face and online events

Science is part of our life and our daily lives but we are not always aware of it, taking the technology that surrounds us for granted.
Spreading scientific culture, stimulating knowledge of the discoveries, creating opportunities for meeting and dialogue between researchers and non-experts: these are the objectives of the European Researchers' Night of 24 September. The initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005 involves thousands of researchers and research institutions in all European countries every year.
The edition proposed this year by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) includes a rich program of face-to-face and online appointments, created thanks to the Projects NET, SHARPER, SUSTAINABLE FASHION INNOVATION SOCIETY and associated events BRIGHT e MEET ME TONIGHT.
Here are the appointments with INGV for the next few days to get to know the beating 'heart' of the Earth.

Earthquakes, geology and planning
All strong earthquakes show strong differences in local-scale shaking. Often neighborhoods or individual buildings are destroyed next to others that have suffered only minor damage. Today it is possible to know in advance how an earthquake will impact the territory and, in particular, to understand the reason for these strong differences in the effects of the earthquake, with the same or almost the same shaking of the ground.
