Nose up and feet on the ground at the Geophysical Museum of Rocca di Papa, passing over and under the monuments and streets of ancient Rome, sailing the Mediterranean Sea until you discover the terrible and sublime Vesuvius, the KnowRisk and the percussions of MuoviamoCi per la Earth. These and many other events organized by INGV for the "Planet Earth Week",
16 from October to 23
Excursions, walks in urban and historic centres, open doors to museums and research laboratories, guided tours, exhibitions, interactive workshops for children and teenagers, musical and theatrical events, conferences and scientific aperitifs. These are the "geoevents" organized by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) on the occasion of the fourth edition of Planet Earth Week, which will be held from 16 to 23 October. The event, conceived and promoted by the Italian Federation of Earth Sciences (FIST), this year is entirely dedicated to the discovery of our natural resources: mountains and glaciers, large lakes, rivers, hills, coasts and marine landscapes, islands and volcanoes.
Planet Earth Week aims to make young people passionate about science and geosciences, in particular by trying to convey enthusiasm for scientific research and discovery. To raise awareness of the possibilities that science offers to improve the quality of life and safety by investing in the environment, energy, climate, food, health, resources and the reduction of natural risks.
Work will begin on Wednesday 19 October at the Geophysical Museum of Rocca di Papa with the scientific meeting On Heaven and Earth. A journey that starts from the discovery of the secrets of the interior of the Earth and arrives at the wonders and suggestions of the starry sky. INGV researchers, astronomy enthusiasts, will accompany visitors from the depths of the earth's core to the immensity of starry space

Roads, monuments and underground: the richness of Rome is the appointment dedicated to archeology and geology on the evening of Friday 21 October in Rome. An interactive walk to discover the geological history of the Eternal City, through anecdotes, scientific curiosities and legends (http://www.settimanaterra.org/node/1922).
To then continue on 22 October, in the Rome headquarters of INGV with the conference curated by Marco Anzidei The Mediterranean sea as you've never seen it. From the submerged mushrooms of the island of Tavolara to the Roman fish ponds along the Israeli coasts, to the flood scenarios expected along the Italian coasts by the end of the century

Friday 21 October, a day at the INGV Royal Vesuvius Observatory for Vesuvius in art. An unusual journey into the knowledge of the most famous volcano in the world through the historical, artistic and scientific collections of the ancient observatory

Seismic and environmental risk: between knowledge and mitigation is the appointment in Lerici (SP) from Monday 17 to Saturday 22 October which will involve several research institutions. Here the initiatives are also part of the project M@Ter2.0. Find meaning... with risk is the game for kids organized by INGV. Small earthquakes can do serious damage. Rubble, fragments of tiles, shards and bottles are among the most common direct effects of seismic shocks on the non-structural elements of homes. Hence the need for an effective and sustainable reduction of seismic risk, through communication activities and public involvement. The topic is being studied in the European project KnowRISK - Know your city, Reduce seiSmic risK through non-structural elements (http://www.settimanaterra.org/node/2067).
On Sunday 16 October, the meeting Playdecide: earthquakes, communicating the emergency will be held at the IUSS headquarters of the University of Ferrara. A role-playing game from an idea of the Master in Journalism and institutional communication of science in the context of seismic prevention initiatives. Participants will be asked to put on the role of mayor, geologist or a frightened tenant, to explore responsibilities and actions from multiple points of view (http://www.settimanaterra.org/node/1981).
On 18 and 19 October it is the turn of the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park in Varese with the event Between earthquakes and hydrogeological instability: a country of dangers. Here the INGV offers school children games on seismic hazards and risks. The Campo dei Fiori Park will then guide an excursion in the area to discover the elements of hydrogeological instability. (http://www.settimanaterra.org/node/2069).
To conclude the week from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 October the Seismological Observatory of Arezzo INGV with MuoviamoCi per la Terra, artistic ideas to understand the geophysical dynamics (and not only) of the Planet. Meetings of Music, Theater and Cinema in the field of scientific dissemination on seismology. The parallelism between musical acoustics and seismology will also be discussed to investigate the methods of origin of the earthquake, the dynamics of the propagation of seismic waves inside the Earth and the methods of interaction between the shaking of the ground and the present building. The orchestra of percussionists of the Liceo Musicale of Arezzo will constitute the sonorous-seismic input which will precede the beginning of the conversation.
