ScienzAperta at INGV, from 4 to 22 May, with appointments in Rome, Pisa, Milan, Arezzo, Genoa, Catania and Palermo. From the earth to the heart, to develop a culture of prevention and care, to Earthquakes, volcanoes and other stories of the Earth, through gourmet tours and workshops The national institute of geophysics and volcanology (INGV) from 4 to 22 May it opens its doors to the public with scientific aperitifs, conferences, educational tours and shows in the offices of Rome, Pisa, Milan, Arezzo, Genoa, Catania and Palermo. The occasion, ScienzAperta 2015, now in its fifth edition.

This year, the events will be kicked off by the Catania section of the Etnean Observatory, which from 4 to 9 May organizes seminars on geophysical and volcanological topics and educational tours for schools and families.

From 5 to 10 May, researchers from the Ingv section of Pisa will guide school groups and families on a journey to discover our planet at the Mediterranean Natural History Museum in Livorno. Through simple experiments, visitors will be able to understand what earthquakes are, understand the fascinating world of volcanoes and how we can prepare and protect ourselves. Saturday 9 May, starting at 19.30, it will be the turn of the scientific aperitif and conversations on Earthquake prediction: science, science fiction and urban legends and When an earthquake is not an earthquake.

Entirely dedicated to schools, this year's appointment in Milan, in conjunction with the Expo, from 5 to 7 May at the Milan Research Area of ​​the National Research Council (Cnr). Here many of the activities will have Earth Sciences as their main theme, told through the use of multiple analogies with food. In the Rome office from 11 to 16 May we will talk about earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis and terrestrial magnetism with guided tours and "gluttonous workshops" dedicated to schools. Earth, Heart and Art is the theme of the scientific aperitifs scheduled from 14 to 15 May, starting at 18,00. The title of the first meeting is "When Art meets Science": here researchers and artists will discuss the use of art in the dissemination of Earth Sciences; the second, "From the Earth to the Heart, prevention and surroundings", will address the theme of the heart of the Earth and the human heart: knowing our Planet and our heart to develop a culture of prevention and treatment. In addition to the INGV researchers, the cardiologist and CNR researcher, Roberto Volpe, will also take part in the meeting. Saturday 16, from 11.00 to 18.00 open day with guided visits to the seismic monitoring room of the National Earthquake Center (Cnt) and to the scientific laboratories of the headquarters of the INGV, and educational tours for children and for the little ones. At 17.00 scientific aperitif "One hundred years ago, the catastrophe: facts and characters of the great Marsican earthquake of 1915", to remember one of the greatest Italian seismic tragedies.

Earthquakes, volcanoes and other stories of the Earth is the title of the exhibition organized by the Seismological Observatory of Arezzo with the collaboration of the Municipality of Anghiari, which will be held from 11 to 17 May in the Sala di Representation of the Confraternita di Misericordia. The exhibition sees the active participation of the children of the schools of the Comprehensive Institute of Anghiari-Monterchi. The itinerary of the exhibition illustrates the main themes of Geophysics and Seismology. Audiovisuals and short seminars held by the researchers of the Observatory will provide visitors with a further opportunity for further study. Sismo on tour is the meeting with the schools of the Alta Val Trebbia municipalities on the theme of the earthquake, organized by the Genoa office from 18 to 19 May. A conference on "Seismic risk reduction in medium seismic areas: education, prevention, preparation" is also scheduled for 18 May in Rezzoaglio, in the province of Genoa, open to citizens and civil protection operators.

ScienzAperta 2015 is closed by the Palermo Section which on May 22 organizes a conference on earthquakes and volcanoes at the Regional Museum of Terrasini-Palazzo d'Aumale. For the occasion, a seismograph will also be set up for recording seismic phenomena and a volcano model with simulation of degassing processes. For schools there is a guided tour of the museum exhibition sections and in particular of the Teodosio De Stefani collection which traces the evolutionary history of Sicily through fossil evidence.
