October 29: aAppointment in the square with INGV

October 30: aactivity for schools

More than a year after the seismic sequence that hit Central Italy, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) meets citizens and students of Amatrice to present the results of the work carried out by the Institute during these months, the seismic history of area, the prospects for research on earthquakes and the latest news on reconstructive techniques in the building sector. Two days of conferences, seminars, meetings and scientific cafés.

After the Venice Film Festival 2017, the documentary by Gianni Amelio will be screened in Amatrice Someone else's house, shot and dedicated to the city of Rieti, produced by Bartleby with Rai Cinema. Gianni Amelio returns to the set for the first time to present his work to the city. The Producer Massimo Di Rocco and the Rai Cinema Institutional Relations Manager Carlo Brancaleoni will be present.

An informative path will describe the Institute's activities during the emergency, curated by the INGV operational and research groups. We will talk about the geological effects produced on the surface by seismic events and those of the site linked to the geology of the subsoil, the damage/resent, the displacements of the ground seen from a satellite and what happens during a seismic process. Ample space for maps and multimedia applications to tell the seismicity and seismic hazard of our territory.

Finally, visits to the Seismic Surveillance Room, reproduced inside the Tent of the INGV Seismic Emergency Operations Center, to get to know what seismologists do during the seismic surveillance service and learn how to locate an earthquake.
