Signed a new agreement thanks to which the headquarters of the Bologna Section of the INGV will occupy approximately 2000 square meters of the spaces of Plesso Morassutti, headquarters of the Department of Physics and Astronomy "Augusto Righi", thus initiating collaborations with scholars of the University from Bologna
Green light for the agreement between the University of Bologna and Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), which will lead to the creation of a Physics Campus hosted by the Alma Mater. With this agreement, the Bologna Section of the INGV will occupy approximately 2000 square meters of the Morassutti Building, located at Viale Berti Pichat 6, home to the "Augusto Righi" Department of Physics and Astronomy. INGV scholars, implementing basic and experimental research in geophysics through its three Departments—Earthquakes, Volcanoes, and Environment—will also collaborate with scholars from the University of Bologna on the development of technological infrastructures within the regional framework dedicated to Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. The agreement is particularly significant because it involves leading experts in physics research, thanks to the participation of INGV and the Alma Mater's "Augusto Righi" Department of Physics and Astronomy, as well as the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC). The participating institutions will actively collaborate, sharing equipment, personnel, and results to foster the development and understanding of physics. This collaboration will also enhance and streamline services for students and researchers, promoting the creation of centralized libraries, cafeterias, study rooms, and shared accommodations. Finally, the new agreement focuses on sustainability, with particular reference to environmental and energy issues, encouraging participation in national and European calls for funding projects related to environmental sustainability, including in a broad and transversal sense.
