Signed a new agreement thanks to which the headquarters of the Bologna Section of the INGV will occupy approximately 2000 square meters of the spaces of Plesso Morassutti, headquarters of the Department of Physics and Astronomy "Augusto Righi", thus initiating collaborations with scholars of the University from Bologna
Green light to the agreement between the University of Bologna and the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) which will lead to the creation of a Physics Campus hosted by the Alma Mater. With this agreement, the headquarters of the Bologna Section of INGV will occupy approximately 2000 square meters of the spaces of Plesso Morassutti, in viale Berti Pichat 6, headquarters of the Department of Physics and Astronomy "Augusto Righi". INGV scholars, implementing basic and experimental research in the field of geophysics thanks to its three Departments – Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Environment – will collaborate with the University of Bologna scholars also in the development of technological infrastructures in the regional framework dedicated to Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. Furthermore, the agreement is of particular importance because it involves the major skills in the field of physics research thanks to the participation, in addition to INGV and the "Augusto Righi" Department of Physics and Astronomy of the Alma Mater, also of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC). The institutions involved will actively collaborate, sharing equipment, personnel and results to promote the development and knowledge of Physics. This collaboration will also make it possible to increase and rationalize services for students and researchers, promoting the creation of centralized libraries, canteens, study rooms and shared accommodation facilities. Finally, the new agreement focuses attention on the issue of sustainability, with particular reference to environmental and energy issues, encouraging participation in national and European calls for tenders for the financing of projects linked to environmental sustainability also in a broad and transversal sense.
