With reference to the press reports and the statements released by the Webuild Group SpA Company following the broadcast of the episode of the programme “Report” on Sunday 19 January 2025, it is clarified that theThe National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) declares itself totally unrelated to any technical-scientific relationship which expresses only the scientific thought of the authors, so as provided for by the Scientific Collaboration Agreement stipulated between INGV and Sapienza University of Rome and the related Technical Annex.
THE“Scientific Collaboration Agreement pursuant to art. 15 of Law 241/1990 and subsequent amendments.” between INGV e Sapienza University of Rome (through its Department of Earth Sciences) was signed on 26 September 2024 and, as can be seen from reading the text, consists of a Technical Annex whose publication was omitted from the Press Release published on the Webuild Group SpA website
This Technical Annex, an integral part of the Agreement itself, clearly specifies that: “INGV research staff is the exclusive owner of the results delivered and is solely responsible for their subsequent applications, relieving INGV of any responsibility for their use”.
Therefore, the technical-scientific reports produced under the Agreement are of exclusive responsibility of the authors, even if employed by INGV, with the exclusion of any responsibility of the Institute for their content and use and of any technical-scientific involvement of INGV.
Finally, it should be noted that, today, the Institute has instructed its Legal Office to share the Scientific Collaboration Agreement in its full version with Webuild Group SpA so that the Company can take note of it, and reserves the right to take any legal action to protect itself.
