An important day of scientific discussion in Naples, reserved for researchers and institutions, dedicated to one of the most complex and monitored volcanic systems in the world.
On November 18th, the “La Porta del Parco” Auditorium in Bagnoli di Napoli will host an intense day of scientific study on the Phlegraean Fields, reserved for discussions between researchers and institutions.
The initiative, promoted by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will be dedicated to the presentation and discussion of the results achieved by LOVE-CF (Linking surface Observables to sub-Volcanic plumbing-system: a multidisciplinary approach for Eruption forecasting at Campi Flegrei caldera, Italy), a departmental research project of the INGV focused on the study of one of the most complex and monitored volcanic systems in the world.
The proceedings will be opened by institutional greetings from Fabio Florindo, President INGV, In the Musumeci, Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, Paola Pagliara, Director of the Risk Forecasting and Prevention Office of the Department of Civil Protection e Stephen Branca, Director of the INGV Volcanoes Department.
Numerous thematic sessions are scheduled, coordinated by INGV experts and dedicated to analyzing the current state of the caldera. Lucia Pappalardo, Director of the Vesuvius Observatory and PI of the project, will present an updated overview of the volcanic system situation as well as the objectives of LOVE-CF. Subsequently, there will be a focus on volcanological, petrological, geochemical, and seismological observations. geodetic and gravimetric surveys conducted in the area, by INGV researchers.
The day will conclude with a round table discussion on the scientific knowledge of the Campi Flegrei, its monitoring, and its future, moderated by the Director of the INGV Volcanoes Department.
