From 06:06 local time on 18 May 2024 (UTC 04:06 of 18/05/2024) there is an earthquake swarm underway in the Campi Flegrei area which, until 9 local time, it did to record preliminarily 16 earthquakes with Duration Magnitude (Md) ≥ 0.0 (16 localized) and a maximum Magnitude (Md) of 2.8(±0.3).
It should be noted, for the sake of clarity, that the maximum duration magnitude of the swarm evaluated only in the preliminary phase at 3.7, was subsequently revised to duration magnitude (Md) 2.8.
This different evaluation is the initial overestimation of the event was caused by a superposition of numerous small events immediately following which distorted the preliminary reading.
