BIG DATA | INGV enters the DAMA-Tecnopolo of Bologna

INGV, through an agreement signed with INFN, will have its data processing center in the DAMA-Tecnopolo Data Manifattura Emilia-Romagna in Bologna

THEInstitute National Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) joined with its Data Processing Center, in DAMA-Technopolo Data Manufacturing Emilia-Romagna di Bologna. The operation was possible thanks to an agreement signed with the center for research and development of technologies IT and telematics (CNAF) ofInstitute National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN)The collaboration includes making available to theINGV di ten wardrobes rack. Management and responsibility for the correct functioning of electrical, air conditioning, fire prevention and flood control systems is guaranteed. The agreement gives INGV full autonomy in managing its network segment and Internet connectivity through the new Point of Presence of the GARR, name of the Italian ultra-broadband network dedicated to the education, research and culture community provided by the GARR Consortium. 

In WOMEN research work is being developed and cutting-edge technological infrastructures are present in the fields of High Performance Computing, Quantum Computing, Big Data, Data Science e Artificial Intelligence. Hosts the Leonardo supercomputer, an integral part of the European High Performance Computing Network EuroHPC and manages the infrastructure for the datalake, Repository centralized designed to store, process and protect large amounts of data. The goal is to improve access to resources distributed throughout the country.

In the Tecnopolo there are important Partner of technological and scientific innovation, including the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
