Registration is now open to participate in the selection process involving university students in the INGV summer outreach activities in Stromboli and Vulcano

THENational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) has launched the direct call to Universities Italian for the participation of students of scientific faculties in the dissemination activities of the INGV InfoPoints on the Aeolian Islands of Vulcano and Stromboli.

The two InfoPoints, already known as the INGV Information Centre of Stromboli and the INGV “Marcello Carapezza” Information Centre of Vulcano, are designed to provide residents and tourists information on Aeolian volcanism, on the risks associated with it and on good civil protection practices to be adopted in case of emergency: dynamic and interactive learning paths to discover the dynamics of volcanology and the geology of the volcanic lands that are the destinations of hikers.

Over the years, interest in this peculiar outreach activity of the Institute has grown, both among the communities living in the archipelago and among the ever-increasing number of tourists and curious people.

Also this year the INGV has started the Procedure for identifying Universities who intend to involve their students from the Science Departments in scientific dissemination activities at the InfoPoints.

The boys will be coordinated by experts from the Institute, developing field experience in outreach activities and taking advantage of a unique training opportunity. Attention to the correct dissemination of scientific results is in fact the fundamental element for the development of a culture of natural risks and prevention aimed at increasing citizen awareness.
