“Terra - The Planet in Five Senses” will be open to the public until August 31st: an innovative multisensory path that will allow visitors to experience often invisible natural phenomena
At Villa Torlonia, from 3 April to 31 August 2025 in the spaces of Technotown - Creative Science Hub of Rome Capital, opens the exhibition to the public “Earth - The Planet in Five Senses”, organized byNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), as part of the celebrations for the twenty-fifth anniversary of its establishment.
The exhibition, promoted by Rome capital city - Department of School, Training and Work It is made with the support of Epos (European Plate Observing System) and with Zètema Culture Project.
Built around the five senses, the exhibition develops through a interactive multisensory path that, through smell, taste, touch, hearing and sight, allows you to directly recognize some of the most important natural phenomena.
The five senses, essential for interacting with the environment around us, become the guiding thread of an experiential journey towards the discovery of the Earth system and its internal structure, but also of the geological and environmental evolution of our Planet, of the problems related to natural risks, of the processes underlying climate change and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The sensory path, conceived and curated by INGV with dotdotdot (design studio author of the storytelling and the exhibition setup), also sees the collaboration of MUST (University Museum of Earth Sciences - Sapienza University of Rome), AAA - All Area Access (MONK Rome, co-founded by European Union) and theMuseum Volunteer Association – ODV for promoting inclusiveness and accessibility to cultural heritage.
“Earth - The Planet in Five Senses” It is an exhibition that puts the public and the how Geosciences are perceived in everyday life, offering ideas that can arouse curiosity, enrich one's interests and increase one's awareness with the tangible representation of often invisible natural phenomena: in fact, it will allow us to to listen seismic waves e see the earth's magnetic field.
The public will also be able to visit a Reproduction of the Seismic Surveillance and Tsunami Warning Room of the INGV Headquarters and to swing on a vibrating table that realistically simulates the vibrations generated by a seismic event.
In addition to the exhibition, a series of scientific dissemination meetings with researchers from INGV.
The exhibition will be inaugurated Wednesday April 2 with an institutional presentation which, starting at 18:00 pm, will see the participation, among others, of President of INGV and of the Councilor for School, Training and Work of Rome Capital, Claudia Pratelli.
