Ancona is preparing to host an event of great scientific and cultural importance: theNational Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) organizes “INGV in the Marche. 25 years of research and memory told in Ancona”a whirlpool bath, exhibition dedicated to seismic riskOn the occasion of 25 anniversary since its establishment.

- A Journey into the History and Science of Earthquakes
Through an engaging and informative exhibition path, the exhibition will guide visitors to discover the history of seismic monitoring and the evolution of the technology used to detect and analyze earthquakes.
The aim is to raise public awareness of the importance of knowledge of the territory and awareness of the risks associated with natural events, promoting more responsible and prepared behaviors in the face of seismic phenomena.
Explanatory panels and scientific instruments will provide a detailed overview of the methods of collecting and disseminating information on seismic events and their effects on the Earth's surface.
Particular attention will be paid to the seismic events that hit the Marche Region, marking the collective memory.
We will talk about the earthquakes of Senigallia in 1930, of what happened in Ancona in 1972 and, more generally, of the seismic events of 2016 and 2022.
- Traveling Photo Exhibition: "The Land of the Poor Christians"
The exhibition will host an exciting travelling photographic exhibition “The Land of the Poor Christians. The 1968 Earthquake in Belice”, with shots taken by famous Mondadori photographers – Mario De Biasi, Sergio Del Grande, Giorgio Lotti e Alberto Roveri – which document the impact of the earthquake and the consequences on the affected communities.
