Today, from 10.00 in the conference room of Villa Doria d'Angri, the founding ceremony of the Foundation for participation in the Observatory of the sea and the coastal coast (OM Foundation) will be held, the permanent technical-scientific body of which the Institute Nazionale di Geofisica e Volcanologia is a founding member, it was established with the aim of defining a common strategy of direction, planning and coordination of activities aimed at monitoring, protecting and enhancing the marine-coastal heritage of the Campania region.
With the activity of the Foundation, different multidisciplinary skills are brought into play with the aim of aggregating and integrating knowledge and marine-coastal monitoring systems for a correct management of the maritime space, providing a broad support of skills for actions aimed at mitigation of risk and the sustainable use of local resources.
The OM Foundation foresees the integration of all the networks and instruments of the Public Research Bodies and of the Universities that are part of it. Among these, the University of Naples "Parthenope", the University of Naples "Federico II", the University of Naples "L'Orientale", ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development); the CNR (National Research Council); the IZSM (Istituto Zooprofilattico Experimentale del Mezzogiorno), the Port System Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea and the Dohrn Foundation.
