Saturday 29 November at 10.00 at the Italian Alpine Club (Cai) in Castel dell'Ovo, Naples, sar? inaugurated the traveling exhibition "The places of Mercalli", curated and created by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology-Osservatorio Vesuviano (Ingv-Ov), on the centenary of the death of the great seismologist and volcanologist, Giuseppe Mercalli. To illustrate the activity? science of the scientist, after the greetings of the President of the Campania Regional Group of Cai, Annamaria Martorano, and the President of the Naples section, Simone Merola, will follow? the introduction of the member of the Central Scientific Committee, Vincent Di Gironimo, and the reports of director of Ingv-Ov, Giuseppe DeNatale, and gods researchers of the same Institute, John Ricciardi e Nicola Alessandro Pino. concludes Giuliana Alessio, Ingv-Ov technologist and member of the Cai Scientific Committee in Campania, with the description of the activity? excursion by the scholar, a great lover of special mountains such as volcanoes. Giuseppe Mercalli (Milan, 1850 - Naples, 1914), priest, seismologist and volcanologist, ide? the scale of intensity? of earthquakes and studies? the most important volcanic eruptions of his time. He was director of the Vesuvian Observatory from 1911 to 1914 and vice president of the CAI of Naples from 1910.
