The second edition of the Festival del Mare will take place in Genoa from 16 to 18 May 2019, the event organized by the University of Genoa to offer visitors an unusual declination in a marine key of themes related to the world of art, economics and science.
The aim of the event is to accompany the public "under water" to learn more about the rich but delicate ecosystem of our seas with conferences, exhibitions, workshops and shows.
The Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) will be at the Festival del Mare on Friday, May 17, with a conference entitled "Volcanoes and Earthquakes," hosted by Stefano Solarino. The conference will cover the major seismic events that have occurred at sea around Italy (such as the 1908 Messina earthquake, the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Italy, and the 1887 Bussana earthquake) and the characteristics of the numerous underwater volcanoes in the Mediterranean (such as Marsili and Vavilov).
