The second edition of the Festival del Mare will take place in Genoa from 16 to 18 May 2019, the event organized by the University of Genoa to offer visitors an unusual declination in a marine key of themes related to the world of art, economics and science.
The aim of the event is to accompany the public "under water" to learn more about the rich but delicate ecosystem of our seas with conferences, exhibitions, workshops and shows.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will be at the Festival del Mare on Friday 17 May with a conference entitled "Volcanoes and Earthquakes" curated by Stefano Solarino. During the meeting, the main seismic events that occurred in the sea around our peninsula will be illustrated (such as that of Messina in 1908, the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Italy, and that of Bussana in 1887) and the characteristics of the numerous submarine volcanoes of the Mediterranean (for example the Marsili and the Vavilov).
