The first edition of theEarth Technology Expo, the event aimed at researchers, students, Public Administrations, Civil Protection technicians, professionals and citizens with the aim of supporting the meeting between research, the market, professions and public institutions in the development of aerospace investments and in the energy transition.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will be present at the event with a stand where the main applications of scientific and technological research that contribute to the monitoring and understanding of natural phenomena and the effects of climate change will be illustrated.
In particular, the activities carried out by the Institute in the "Space" sector and its contribution to the Space Economy will be shown. In fact, INGV has recently established its Space Earth Observation Center (COS, Earth Space Observation Center) with the aim of linking and planning the Institute's activities in the space and aerospace sectors for the purpose of designing and creating services and products useful to modern society.
In this context, INGV has long played a particularly effective role in cooperation with industrial partners by providing a series of complementary activities such as the development of space technologies in the Earth Observation (SAR) sector and in that of Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSS), acquiring a role of excellence both for the study of satellite missions and for the development and supply of operational products for end users.
During the Earth Tech Expo in Florence, INGV will also be alongside EPOS ERIC, the European solid Earth research infrastructure of which the Institute is a part, to present the results achieved in the first year of the Pilot Operational Phase and the activities of the various scientific communities that make up the consortium.
The busy program of meetings of the event will be enriched by the offer of seminars and webinars, to create a large space for discussion both in presence and virtual with the aim of making visitors touch the possible applications of the most modern technologies in the management of particularly sensitive and current topics such as, among others, seismic, volcanic and tsunami risks, satellite Earth observations, mitigation of the effects of climate change and monitoring of air quality in our cities.
The event, with free admission, will be held in Florence in the spaces of the Fortezza da Basso.
