Memex, Rai Cultura's program dedicated to Science, broadcast on Rai Scuola (Channel 146 of Digital Terrestrial and 806 of Sky), is dedicating a series of insights on tsunamis, monitoring and risk reduction measures for coastal populations , in particular on the early warning carried out by the Tsunami Alert Center of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (CAT-INGV).
Three information sheets are planned to be broadcast: after the broadcast aired on May 28, two more episodes will be broadcast, today 1 June and 6 June at 21.30.
The program is particularly important for citizens, because it contributes to improving knowledge of these phenomena, of scientific progress and of how these can increase the safety of those who live on the coasts and those who visit them occasionally.
After the Directive (DPCM) of 5 June 2017, which formally established the Italian Tsunami Alert System (SiAM), coordinated by the Department of Civil Protection (DPC), it is the first time that the activities of the CAT-INGV are the theme of a science outreach programme.
