The Auxiliary Bishop of Rome, Mons. Lorenzo Leuzzi, visited the Rome headquarters of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), where he was welcomed by a large number of employees of the institute. The coordinator of university pastoral care, new Bishop of Teramo-Atri a few days ago, recalled the importance of cultural growth as an indispensable step for a free and aware society. The opposition between science and faith must be overcome. Archbishop Leuzzi has a degree in Medicine and Surgery and his studies and his ecclesiastical experience are an example of how spirituality and research can coexist and work together: "Thinking about the future, including work, does not mean pursuing clear and distinct ideas, but - he pointed out il Vescovo – having the planning ability which is the synthesis of certainty and novelty”. The Bishop commended the activities of INGV and urged the scientific community to work towards the study of natural hazards.
