Statement by President Stefano Gresta on the acquittal sentence of the Court of Appeal of L'Aquila

?? It is with great satisfaction that I learn the news of the acquittal of the members of the Major Risks Commission, including the research manager of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv), Giulio Selvaggi, formerly? director of the National Earthquake Center and the then President of Ingv, Enzo Boschi, by the Court of Appeal of L'Aquila.

The ruling of the Court demonstrates that the two colleagues, present at the meeting of 31 March 2009, have always acted correctly, respecting their roles and responsibilities, providing scientific contributions and reiterating, at the same time, the high seismic analysis of the Abruzzo Region, in line with the previous press releases sent by the Authority. Today not only is the undisputed honorability returned? and the dignity to Giulio Selvaggi and Enzo Boschi, but is also reiterated, if needed, the credibility? to the whole community? Italian science.

I confirm once again, also on behalf of all the Ingv researchers, my closeness to the relatives of the victims?.
