Silvia Peppoloni, new councilor of the International Union of Geological Sciences

On the occasion of the 35th International Geological Congress (IGC) recently held in Cape Town (South Africa), Silvia Peppoloni, researcher at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), as well as Secretary General of IAPG - International Association for Promoting Geoethics (http://www.geoethics.org), based at the institution, was elected with a large majority as director of the IUGS - International Union of Geological Sciences for the four-year period 2018-2022. The IUGS is a prestigious international reference organization in the field of geosciences. This assignment is also a well-deserved recognition of the international geological community's continuous and highly qualified commitment in the promotion of the ethical and social aspects of the geosciences.
