Today, 31 August, the President of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), Carlo Doglioni, met the Minister of Education, University and Research (MIUR), Stefania Giannini and the Head of Cabinet of Miur, Alessandro Fusacchia, in the presence of the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio. The Minister, during his visit to the INGV station at the DICOMAC-Command and Control Directorate - Civil Protection of Rieti, was able to appreciate live the seismic monitoring activities implemented by the Institute itself. The Minister was visiting Rieti to prepare the reopening of schools in the epicentral area. INGV has declared its willingness to participate in collaboration with the DPC in activities to raise awareness of the seismic risk of school administrators and students. On this occasion, the researchers present at the meeting also highlighted to the Minister the importance of studying the functioning mechanisms of the Earth, both for scientific and social reasons.
