The Chinese delegation of the Institute of Crustal Dynamics of Beijing (IDC), led by the Director prof. Xiwei Xu, today visited the Rome headquarters of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) on the occasion of the signing of a scientific collaboration agreement between the two institutions.

The objective of the Agreement, signed by President Carlo Doglioni in the presence of INGV General Manager Maria Siclari, is to make the data of the Chinese satellite CSES (Chinese Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite) accessible, in order to be analyzed jointly.

The CSES satellite has the objective of measuring both the electromagnetic field and the ionospheric plasma to better understand the phenomenology of interaction between the ionosphere and the magnetosphere and between the ionosphere and the lower atmosphere. The satellite mission, led by Dr. Xuhui Shen is important for the study of internal and external geomagnetism and for the search for any electromagnetic signals related to strong earthquakes.
