An INGV study on radon gas emissions near the Etna faults was published in recent days.
Although the existence of radon in volcanic territories has been well known for a very long time, the subject has aroused the interest of many and there have been numerous requests for further study of the subject that have reached us.
In fact, when scientific research concerns aspects of daily life, it attracts particular attention.
However, it must be specified that the surveys, in this case, were restricted to a very small sample of dwellings (only 7) and in specifically affected areas on the sides of the volcano.
Wishing to answer the various questions we have received in recent days, we asked Marco Neri, author of the research, to explain his assessments regarding the presence of radon in the vicinity of the Etna faults in more detail.
To do this, we chose an exceptional interviewer, Boris Behncke, an INGV researcher who, together with Marco Neri and many other researchers, lives right on the slopes of the Sicilian volcano.
An interview to be listened to in order to hear the "research story" from the voice of the protagonists.
