Emails and text messages to over 2000 components and operational structures of the National Civil Protection System and, in particular, to the 664 mayors of Italian coastal municipalities. These are the main numbers of the exercise test that took place today with the aim of verifying the functionality of the Italian Tsunami Alert System (SIAM) platform for the dissemination of warning messages in the event of a possible tsunami. The test involved sending a series of messages from the Tsunami Alert Center (CAT) of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) to the Civil Protection Department (DPC) which, on the basis of a well-defined protocol, issued the message to the operating structures involved in the emergency planning activities.
