The meeting that kicked off INGV's participation in the 2019 edition of the "Race for the Cure" took place today, in the presence of the heads of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), at the Circus Maximus from 16 to 19 May 2019.
The event, held in the Conference Room of the Rome branch of the Institute, was attended by Dr. Daniela Terribile, Vice President of Komen Italia, the Association that deals with the organization of the Race in Italy, Claudia Sciarra, part of the Komen staff Italy, and a volunteer "Woman in Pink" who offered the public the touching story of her experience.
In thanking Doctor Terrible and the staff of Komen Italia for the work done, the President of INGV Carlo Doglioni recalled the importance of the theme of prevention as a fundamental tool both in the medical field and in the field of seismic and volcanic risk mitigation. The General Manager Maria Siclari then underlined the importance of an appointment dedicated to women but also aimed at their men and their families, fundamental supports for facing even the most difficult life paths with courage.
Now in its twentieth edition, the "Race for the Cure" in Rome involves thousands of people every year and is an opportunity to contribute, through the fundraising promoted by Komen Italia, to the realization of over 700 projects for the fight against cancers of the breast.
