April 15, 2021 | from 10 to 20.30
streaming marathon with the protagonists of Italian Science
On the occasion of the Italian Research Day in the World on 15 April, the Rome Science Festival produced by the Musica per Roma Foundation organizes, in collaboration with the Ministry of University and Research and with the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation International, a real scientific marathon in streaming from 10:00 to 20:30 with 16 meetings, 55 speakers, 3 Ministries and 14 scientific partners.
The connections will take place from all over the world: from the Arctic, from the Venice arsenal, from the Gran Sasso laboratories, to CERN, from the Etna Observatory to Paris, from Boston to Florida.
It will go live on the site https://www.auditorium.com/festivaldellescienze/ and on the Facebook page @FestivaldelleScienzeRoma in two languages: Italian and English.
The Rome Science Festival is realized with the planning partnership of Codice Edizioni, ASI – Italian Space Agency and INFN – National Institute of Nuclear Physics. Scientific partners of the festival are CNR – National Research Council, CMCC – Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change, ESA – European Space Agency, GARR Network, GSSI – Gran Sasso Science Institute, INAF – National Institute of Astrophysics, IIT – Italian Institute of Technology, INGV – National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, ISPRA – Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, Planetarium of Rome Capital, ISI Foundation and Human Technopole and National Geographic Italia Media Partner.
With the demonstration of 15 April, the organizers of the event have a double objective: to highlight the Italian researchers engaged abroad in centers of excellence and to enhance the national scientific research activity, showing its potential as an attractor of new resources from around the world.
The initiative foresees the participation of the major scientific institutions and the presence of many important personalities of Italian research.
Furthermore, there will be live connections from the monitoring room of the Etna Observatory in Catania, to the seismic and tsunami warning room in Rome, up to the airship station in the Arctic in the Svalbard Islands and the Institute of Marine Sciences of the Arsenale of Venice.
"The emergency we are going through has, on the one hand, brought research back to the center of our lives and, on the other, made it clear how exchange and collaboration are fundamental for achieving strategic objectives", says the Minister of Universities and research, Maria Cristina Messa. "For this reason, improving and encouraging the temporary mobility of our researchers abroad and simultaneously attracting young foreign students to our universities and research institutions is an action that we can no longer postpone."
Among the scheduled appointments is the one with INGV from 17.50 pm onwards.
In fact, Italy plays a fundamental role in the research and monitoring of geophysical and volcanological activity which we will discover through the words of Carlo Doglioni, President of INGV, and with live connections from Etna or from the Catania monitoring room with Stefano Branca, Director of the Etneo-INGV Observatory, from the seismic and tsunami warning room in Rome with Salvatore Stramondo, Director of the National Earthquake Observatory-INGV, and from the "Space Weather" monitoring room for civil aviation with Leonardo Sagnotti, Director of the Environment Department, and with Vincenzo Romano, Italian manager of the PECASUS Consortium.
All contributions will be available both in Italian and in English and will be disseminated on the official channels of the Festival:
