On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 December 2016, the Workshop Fault displacement hazard analysis (FDHA), organized by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IRSN), by the California Geological Survey (CGS) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
A two-day event in which researchers, professionals and stakeholders will bring their skills and experience into play to outline future research collaborations and strategies.
The FDHA plays a key role in the risk assessment and design of infrastructure located in the vicinity of active and potentially active faults. The objective is to locate and quantify displacements and surface deformations caused by tectonic faults and the risk for structures subject to these deformations.
Among the topics addressed: The Surface Rupture during Earthquakes Database (SURE), Lessons learned from recent earthquakes, Case studies, Advances in probabilistic and deterministic approaches and future research directions, Moving forward.
The activity is part of the scientific collaboration between INGV and the USGS Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in 1988 and aimed at the development of specific joint activities in various research fields in which both institutes actively operate.
You can sign up until August 31st.
