The occasion was the closure of the celebrations of the Mercallian Year as part of the Expo 2015 initiatives, with a training seminar in collaboration with the National Order of Journalists (Odg). We will talk about energy, the same energy that volcanoes have transmitted to the organoleptic characteristics of the territories that surround them, making them unique laboratories for agri-food production and scientific research. Salvo Foti, Etna winemaker, takes us on a discovery of Etna starting from mythological tales to arrive at the production of the nectar of the Gods, up to the profound interaction between the volcano and viticulture techniques. Among the topics covered, also the studies on the effects of the earthquake on the territory and the search for possible pollutants in the ground through methods of applied geophysics.

On Saturday 23 May, on the occasion of the inauguration of the new museum itinerary of the historic site of the Vesuvius Observatory and the recognition of a site of international importance for physics by the European Physical Society (EPS), a special issue will be released.
