INGV CIRA2A delegation of researchers from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) went to the Italian Space Research Center (CIRA) in Capua to develop collaborations between the two institutes aimed at technological innovation and the identification of technical solutions for certain interest for the Campania Region and for the whole national territory.

During the meeting, numerous points of contact emerged between the scientific activities carried out by the two Institutes. These include the launch of environmental monitoring projects, with particular reference to the Campania Region, with geophysical prospecting techniques and satellite and proximal remote sensing (drones); field applications GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and Space Weather; technological and scientific collaboration in the field of development of stratospheric platforms and sensors for territorial control.

The meeting was opened by the President of INGV, Stefano Gresta, in a video conference and by the President of CIRA, Luigi Carrino. Both expressed their appreciation for the birth of these new technical/scientific collaborations.

The INGV delegation, led by Maria Fabrizia Buongiorno, was made up of the Director of the Environment Structure, Fabio Florindo, and researchers with specific experience in various fields of activity and of possible interest for CIRA: Salvatore Stramondo for SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) , Gianni Romeo for the technological laboratories and drones, Vincenzo Romano for the dynamics of the upper atmosphere, Marco Marchetti for the geophysical prospecting of the subsoil.
