The third episode of Geosciences News is online, the web news of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) created in collaboration with the Ansa Science&Technical channel.
INGV experts present the National Simic Network managed by the Institution, where the seismic signals produced by earthquakes are recorded and analysed. When a seismic event occurs, the Network transmits an accurate analysis of the phenomenon to the Civil Protection Department in a few minutes, indicating the position of the hypocenter, the magnitude and the list of locations closest to the epicenter, fundamental information for evaluating resources needed to manage emergencies.
